What we do
The right work for the tree in front of us.
A cedar over a laneway is not the same job as a hedge along a fence. We look at the tree, the property and what you need before recommending the work.

A Vancouver tree company
Sam grew up under the same trees he now cares for.
Born and raised on Vancouver's West Side, Sam Chapman built Heritage Tree Service around a simple idea: look after the tree when you can, and handle its removal properly when you cannot.
He is an ISA Certified Arborist and Hazard Tree Assessor who has led Heritage since 2002. Some calls need a light prune. Others need a technical removal or a tree-removal permit report. The job is to know the difference and explain it plainly.
Our working principle
“Keep what should stay. Remove what cannot. Leave the property better than we found it.”
How we work
Clear from the first look to the final sweep.
You will know what we recommend, why it matters and what the site should look like when we are done.
-
01
Look up
We inspect the tree, access, targets below and what is happening around the property.
-
02
Talk it through
We explain the options, flag permits or reports, and give you a clear quote.
-
03
Work safely
Our crew arrives with the right equipment and a plan built for the site.
-
04
Leave it clean
Branches, brush and job debris are removed before we call the work complete.
Notes from our customers
The cleanup gets mentioned almost as much as the tree work.
Sam was extremely knowledgeable and an absolute pleasure to work with. They did a beautiful job of shaping my trees and left my yard spotless.
Sam is patient, easy to talk to and his crew were polite and professional. He even informed the City that all my permit requirements were satisfied.
He was well organized and finished the work about the same time as he predicted. Before his team left they cleaned all of the mess thoroughly.

Before we visit
A few useful answers.
Every property is different. These are the questions we hear most often before a site visit.
01Do you handle tree removal permits?
Yes. Sam prepares Certified Arborist reports for tree removal permit applications. After seeing the tree and property, he can explain what may be required for your permit.
02Is cleanup included?
Yes. Brush removal and a thorough final cleanup are part of the work. The goal is to leave your property tidy and usable, not simply finish the cutting.
03Are you insured?
Heritage Tree Service carries WorkSafeBC coverage and $10 million in Commercial General Liability insurance. Proof of coverage is available on request.
04Where do you work?
We serve residential and commercial properties across Greater Vancouver, including Vancouver, North Vancouver, West Vancouver, Burnaby and Richmond.
